What does it mean when a person wears a choker?
A choker necklace (a close-fitting neck accessory) has a multifaceted meaning: historically from protection to status, in the 19th century as a fashion accessory of the upper class, later as a symbol of rebellion and counterculture (Gothic, Punk), today often a versatile fashion accessory that can express individuality, nonconformity, but also femininity and self-determination, depending on the style.
How tight should a choker fit?
Most chokers are between 35 and 40 cm long, making them suitable for most neck sizes and body types. A choker should sit comfortably on or just above the collarbone – close enough to frame the neck, but never so tight that it feels constricting.
How do you wear a choker?
The best news: chokers go with almost any look – whether with a Carmen blouse, a dress, a denim shirt, a kinky outfit, a party raver look, or hippie flower power style. The only important thing is that the neck is exposed so it can be perfectly showcased. Those who prefer a slightly more opulent look can also combine the choker with other necklaces.
